Mauritian local arts & crafts
The island of Mauritius is full of creative talent
And we want to showcase the very best Mauritius souvenirs. During your stay, don’t miss the Otentik Bazar, a dedicated space within our hotels to discover what local artisans and entrepreneurs have been creating.
By choosing your souvenirs at the Otentik Bazar, you are supporting the local economy, the community and the dreams of talented entrepreneurs!
3% of each purchase goes to the Attitude Foundation which in its turn supports quite a number of sustainable development projects.
What can I find here?
Here we shop responsibly!
At the Otentik Bazar, you will find 100% local products created as much as possible from recycled materials and especially without plastic packaging!
At the Otentik Bazar you will also find a small section of convenient items: they are not 100% local and are sometimes wrapped in plastic, which we avoid as much as possible.
We are working hard to find more responsible alternatives, which do not exist in Mauritius at the moment.
Mauritian crafts
In each Attitude hotel, Otentik Bazar puts the creations of local artisans and entrepreneurs in the limelight.
The many brands we work with include beautiful natural soaps and cruelty-free cosmetics from Kokodezil; cool clothing with a low ecological footprint from The Kreol Republic; wooden games from L’Atelier de Lilou, swimsuits from Aqua Swimwear: some of the brands present are certified 'Made in Moris'.
We support local businesses who share our values for locally-made, and environmentally-friendly products.
A collaborative platform
For 10 years, Attitude has been committed to supporting local crafts.
We are now associated with My Pop-Up Store so to reinforce the visibility of the artisanal creations and local know-how in each of our Otentik Bazar.
This great team supports us in the development of future unique collections for our stores.
My Pop-Up Store is a 100% local concept store, well-known to Mauritians!
Did you know?
Many souvenirs on the island – and elsewhere on your world travels – can be cheap imports, so we encourage you to buy authentic Mauritius souvenirs and support local craftspeople, as well as the local economy.
