Zanzibar, hands-on
Tie a kanga, weave a coconut palm leaf, learn your first words of Swahili: here, local culture is something you share by doing, in small-group workshops led by the hotel team or local artists.

Coconut leaf weaving
Try your hand at basketry
Sajo introduces you to weaving coconut palm leaves, freshly cut on site. He first shows you a finished piece and explains the place this sustainable, responsible craft holds in island life.
Then it's your turn: a basket, a hat… Shape your own piece and take it home as a keepsake.
Do you speak Swahili?
Back to the classroom
After an introduction to the language and its roots, it's time for role play, in English and Swahili, to get to grips with key everyday words. Already know Jambo or pole pole ? Take it further with Dai, your teacher.
