With a diverse mix of ethnicities, languages and traditions, there’s nowhere quite like Mauritius for cultural richness – and we love to showcase the music of Mauritius at Attitude Hotels.
During your stay, you’ll get to watch our weekly Sega show or learning how to play a traditional Mauritian instrument.
But it’s not all about the traditional music of Mauritius. We showcase up-and-coming talent, too. So enjoy a performance by the island’s hottest bands and singers during your holiday.
Music competition
We want to be a catalyst for up-and-coming talent, so each year we hold a contemporary music competition called Konpoz to Lamizik. The event encourages local musicians and composers, giving them the chance to win the production of an album.
Local artists
We love live music. Dance barefoot on the beach under strings of lights or listen to some chilled-out music in a poolside bar. The talent is all local and many artists have been discovered through our Konpoz to Lamizik competition.
Local music instruments
Feel the pulse and rhythm of traditional Mauritian instruments such as the ravanne, maravanne and triangle – and let us teach you how to play! Sega music is a strong influence on the island, so learn about its history and style from one of our musicians.
Local traditional dance
During your stay, you’ll get to watch our Sega show, the pulsating Creole songs and traditional Mauritian dance telling the joys and sorrows of the island’s past.
Our weekly Sega show takes place in all of our Attitude Hotels. The twirling colourful skirts and hypnotic beats are not to be missed – and you can join in, too!
